Bark in the Park

Start your day early with the 5k Run With the Big Dogs and 1 mile Stroll. Owners are encouraged to run or walk with their dogs for even more fun! Registration is from 6-6:45 am, and the race begins at 7am. The race will start and end in the Duneland Resale parking lot at 8th & Broadway.

Do you have the KISSIEST doggie on the planet? Do you and your pooch bear a physical resemblance to each other? Can you do a good Lassie-bark ?? Does your old dog know some new tricks?? Then brush that coat, and polish those nails and put your best paw forward to vie for valuable prizes in fun contests that will run from Noon -1:00pm on the southeast side of the Bandstand. No registration is necessary, and contests are free to enter. Contest prizes are provided by Chesterton Feed and Garden, Chesterton Walgreens, Lucrezia Caf and the Duneland Business Initiative group. Both K-9s and Kidz will have a blast splashing and looking for the lucky duck in the Duck Hunt game where EVERY PLAYER WINS A PRIZE! Stop by the PawCasso booth where your pooch can paint a masterpiece just for you! Games and activities will have a nominal fee. All proceeds go to support this event.

Enjoy your pet-friendly day in the park as you visit with over 35 booths featuring local shelters, and regional pet rescue organizations, specialized pet services in the area, and pet merchandise and treats. There will be training and obedience demonstrations at various times during the day. K-9 Kooling Zone... many water bowls will be placed around the park, and outside of businesses in the downtown area. A special water mist area will be available at the southeast end of the park for overheated hounds and humans. There will always be something going on, so come on out to the park for some doggone good fun!
